Chillerone can be set up to fit your dry cleaning system. It can match the cooling demand. It also considers inlet and outlet water temperatures and the water flow.

Lower Water & Operating Costs

A closed-loop chilled water setup can reuse the cooling water instead of using it once and discarding it. That shift can lower what you pay each month for water and also for sewage.

For a simple example, think about a dry cleaning machine that runs about 8 hours each day. With a monthly chiller plan, the dry cleaner may cut water costs by several hundred dollars. At the same time, it can help with environmental rules that keep getting tighter.

Stable Cooling for Solvent Recovery

Stable Cooling for Solvent Recovery

The Chillerone chiller for the cleaning machine can keep the outlet water temperature consistent. With that steady temperature, the dry cleaning solvents stay stable and liquefy for recovery in the condenser. This helps stop temperature swings. Those swings can make solvent evaporate, which leads to loss and weaker cleaning results. It also helps the dry cleaning machine last longer. Stable water temperature reduces stress on the pumps and seals. That lowers the chance of breakdowns and can extend service life.

Flexible Configuration for Different Applications

Chillerone builds machines with several choices. You can pick air-cooled or water-cooled. You can also choose scroll or piston systems. Sizes range from 3 tons to 20 tons. There are also options for how the unit is put together, like integrated, separate, or modular. Some models include a water tank inside, and some use an outside tank.

The unit can be adjusted for your site as well. Tell us your dry cleaning machine setup. We will match it with the right chiller solution.

Can Tap Water Be Used for Dry Cleaning Machine Cooling Instead of a Chiller?

You can connect to tap water, but we do not suggest doing that for a long time.

If you send cooling water straight into the sewer, you will keep paying for water and also for sewage handling. In many places, rules now block this kind of waste. Chillerone’s closed-loop chiller reuses the cooling water. It also supports local compliance with environmental requirements.

What Type of Water or Coolant Should Be Used in a Dry Cleaning Chiller?

For most setups, you can use regular city tap water.  If the area gets very cold, or if the system must run in low temperatures, you should mix in an antifreeze agent such as ethylene glycol or propylene glycol. This helps stop the pipes from cracking when they freeze. Also, use the right amount. If you add too much, the heat transfer can drop.

Set the mix based on the coldest temperatures that can happen where you live.

How Do I Choose the Right Cooling Capacity for a Dry Cleaning Machine?

Start by working out the cooling load. Use this idea: Cooling Capacity (kcal/h) = Flow Rate (L/min) × ΔT (°C) × 60. One cooling unit can be about 3 to 6 tons, depending on the setup. If you have more than one unit, or if the gear runs at a higher load, you will need more cooling capacity. When you pick a model, also look at the room or ambient temperature, the water temperature you want, and how long the equipment runs each day.

Can One Chiller Cool Multiple Dry Cleaning Machines?

You can connect more than one dry cleaning machine to a single water chiller by using parallel piping.  Even so, you still need to pick the chiller size using the total cooling demand from all machines. You also have to check the main pipe design. The pipe diameter and the water flow should be chosen in a practical way.  You must also confirm that the total water volume and the pressure head are enough when the machines run at the same time.

Should I Choose a Dry Cleaning Chiller With a Built-In or External Water Tank?

Choose as needed:

Built-in water tank: once it is installed, it is ready to run. It takes less room, so it fits well where space is tight.

External water tank: the tank size can be set to your needs. It can hold more water and act as a buffer. This makes it fit for several devices at the same time. It also works better when the system faces high demand or when there are sudden big bursts of water flow.

Can a Dry Cleaning Chiller Be Installed Outdoors?

You need to pick a model that is made for outdoor setup. Air cooled chillers and split units can be installed outdoors. Before you do it, check a few things. First, confirm that the highest local outside air temperature stays within what the unit is allowed to run at. Next, make sure the cabinet and the parts are built to handle rain and resist corrosion. The electrical sections should match the required water protection level. If you live where winters are very cold, plan for freeze protection too.

How Much Does a Dry Cleaning Chiller Cost? What Factors Affect the Price?

Chiller cost comes from several factors. These include the cooling capacity you need. They also depend on whether you choose air cooling or water cooling. The compressor type matters too. The water tank material and the tank size also affect the price. So does how the water pump is set up. The control system accuracy plays a role as well. We also need to know if you want freeze protection.

Another point is whether the unit is standard or built for your specific case. Please share the details for your dry cleaning machine. Include the parameters and the installation conditions. Chillerone will then send you a focused quote.

What Are the Main Components of a Dry Cleaning Water Chiller? What Are Their Respective Functions?

What Are the Main Components of a Dry Cleaning Water Chiller What Are Their Respective Functions

A dry cleaning water chiller relies on two linked parts. One is the cooling circuit. The other is the chilled water loop. Together, they move the process from making cold refrigerant to sending chilled water to where it is needed. The main pieces are listed below.

Compressor

This part supplies the force for the cooling circuit. It takes the refrigerant gas at low pressure and low temperature and squeezes it into a hotter, higher pressure gas. After that, it pushes the refrigerant through the rest of the system.

Condenser

Here, the hot, high pressure refrigerant gas is cooled until it becomes a liquid. Air cooled designs use finned plate structures. Fans bring in air from the surroundings to carry heat away. Water cooled designs use shell-and-tube structures. In that case, outside cooling water removes the heat.

Expansion Valve

The valve reduces pressure and slows the liquid refrigerant. That change turns the refrigerant into a low temperature, low pressure mix. This mix then goes into the evaporator so it can take in heat.

Evaporator

Heat transfer happens in the evaporator. The refrigerant absorbs heat there. As it absorbs heat, it turns into vapor. This action lowers the temperature of the chilled water that passes through the unit.

Pump

After cooling, the water is pumped under pressure and sent to the condenser used in the dry cleaning unit and the solvent recovery setup. Many dry cleaning water systems include pumps made from 304 stainless steel. This helps stop rust and keeps the water quality from being harmed.

Control Panel

The panel monitors the outlet water temperature and adjusts it as conditions change. It often includes a water flow alarm, a protection feature for excessive current, and an alarm if the temperature gets too high. It also offers RS485 remote communication, so the people running the equipment can check what is happening without waiting.

Also, a water storage tank is added to absorb changes in the heat load. That way, the water temperature stays steady. A drying filter is used to catch moisture and other small impurities in the refrigerant. This reduces the risk of clogging inside the system.

What Are the Differences Between Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled Dry Cleaning Machine Chillers?

What Are the Differences Between Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled Dry Cleaning Machine Chillers

Comparison Factor Air-Cooled Water-Cooled
Heat Rejection Method Uses ambient air to dissipate heat through finned-tube coilsUses external cooling water to dissipate heat through a shell-and-tube condenser.
Applications Areas with limited water supply, no cooling tower infrastructure, or single/small-scale equipment.High-ambient-temperature areas (above 55°C), multiple machines requiring centralized cooling, or facilities with existing cooling-water infrastructure.
Installation Requirements No cooling tower or cooling-water system required. Easy to install and requires less space.Requires a cooling tower and cooling-water pump. Installation is more complex and requires more space.
Operating Cost Depends on ambient temperature. Efficiency decreases and energy consumption may increase at high temperatures.Higher heat-rejection efficiency and more stable water temperature, making it more suitable for continuous high-load operation
Temperature Stability More affected by changes in ambient temperature.Chilled-water temperature is relatively stable and less affected by fluctuations in ambient temperature.
Maintenance Requirements Regularly clean the condenser coils to prevent dust buildup from reducing heat-transfer efficiency.Requires regular maintenance of the cooling tower and water system to prevent scaling and corrosion.

Pick the air-cooled unit when you have no cooling tower, and you cannot spare much space for the installation. Go with the water-cooled type if the air temperature near the dry cleaning machine stays over 55°C. Choose water cooling too when several machines must be cooled from one central spot.

What Are the Requirements for Cooling Water Temperature and Pressure?

What Are the Requirements for Cooling Water Temperature and Pressure

Temperature

Most dry cleaning solvent recovery systems need cooling water kept around 10℃ to 18℃. When the water is too warm, solvents like perchloroethylene do not turn fully into liquid. That hurts how well the machine cleans and how much solvent can be recovered.

If the water is too cold, the system can waste energy. There can also be issues with condensation or water building up inside the pipes. Because of this, the chiller outlet temperature should stay steady. The allowed swing should be no more than ±1℃.

Flow

Cooling water has to match the heat load of the dry cleaning machine. When the flow rate is set too low, the water warms up more while it moves through the condenser. That reduces how well heat transfers. It also leaves the hot refrigerant gas not fully cooled. Then the system pressure climbs, and the compressor has to run harder.

On the other hand, if the flow rate is too high, the pump still has to push that extra water. More water means more work for the pump, so power use goes up. Many commercial dry cleaning units list a flow target of about 2.5 GPM per ton of cooling capacity, or more.

Water Pressure

The water pressure must hold the required flow and also limit the pressure drop through the machine. In real setups, the gap between supply and return should stay at least 20 PSI. If that gap is small, the machine outlet may not receive enough water. If the gap is large, the pressure can exceed what the unit can handle, which may stress hoses, pipes, or seals.

*These three parts affect each other. First, temperature plays a role in how water condenses. Second, the flow rate changes how fast heat moves. Third, pressure can decide if water will get to the equipment without trouble. For the model choice, look at the cooling load that was planned and also the length of the pipe in the dry cleaning machine. After that, ask the manufacturer to run a full set of checks and calculations.

Why Is a Bypass Circuit Set Up During Installation? Where Is the Bypass Valve Installed?

Why Is a Bypass Circuit Set Up During Installation Where Is the Bypass Valve Installed

Many people think the bypass loop is just extra pipe. That idea is wrong. If it is put in the wrong way, a cooling unit that should work well can end up not cooling at all.

What the bypass loop does:

  • It keeps water moving through the cooling coil, the water tank, and the piping. This helps hold the tank water temperature in the target range.
  • It gives the dry cleaning machine enough water pressure. The supply side and return side should differ by at least 20 PSI. This supports proper circulation in the condenser.
  • It lets the chiller cool system start and stop based on temperature. It also keeps the system from being affected by outside flow and temperature demands.

Where to Place the Bypass Valve:

Put the bypass valve at the end of the pipeline. Also place the connection for the dry cleaning machine between the pump and the bypass line. After the main water supply line leaves the pump, route it into the dry cleaning machine first. Then send it to the bypass valve. From there, it should go back to the main return water pipe. With this setup, the dry cleaning machine sits in the pump’s positive pressure zone, and it gets steadier water pressure.

Consequences of installation failure:

If the bypass valve is installed the wrong way, several problems can show up. For example, if the bypass valve is placed before the dry cleaning unit, the incoming water will pass through the bypass first. When the bypass valve is opened, part of the water can run straight away instead of going to the unit. After that, the pressure at the dry cleaning machine drops.

Once the operator sees weak pressure at the machine, the usual instinct is to close the bypass valve more, or even shut it fully, so pressure rises. But that fix does not solve the real issue. Closing the bypass too much can leave the water chiller with too little water flow. The result is very low water temperature.

At the same time, the water temperature at the dry cleaning machine end can jump between hot and cold. The swing can be about 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Eventually, the dry cleaning machine may trigger an alarm and stop due to abnormal pressure or temperature.

Correct approach:

Leave the bypass valve slightly open. That way, some water keeps flowing back through the bypass. With this setup, the water chiller stays supplied with enough flow to hold a steady water temperature. It also helps the dry cleaning machine maintain enough water supply pressure.
